Three Reasons Why Women Shouldn't Shave Their Pubic Hair

I don't want to beat around the bush-there's nothing wrong with trimming your pubic hair or doing some grooming. But when it comes down to it, shaving your pubic hair has some consequences you may not have considered.

Shaving your pubic hair causes damage to hair follicles.

When you shave your pubic hair, you risk ingrown hairs and nasty red bumps. That's a short-term risk many women are willing to take. But shaving your pubic hair can do lasting damage to that sensitive region.

Think of the skin in your pubic region as containing hundreds of pores and openings for secretions. And then take a moment to think about how much you sweat over the course of an average day.

Damaging the hair follicles in your pubic area means you may experience bouts of bumps, as glands and pores get blocked from the damaged openings. Seriously, do you want bumps down there? Shaving your pubic hair regularly can lead to permanent damage, which means you'll be susceptible to blockage for years even after you stop.

Shaving your pubic hair means your pubic region is naked during sex.

Pubic hair may not be sexy at this particular point in human history, but we evolved with hair down there for a reason. Pubic hair is your body's way of providing a dry lubricant to keep the super-sensitive skin down there from getting irritated during sex.

Think about it. During sex, there's a lot of moisture and a lot of friction. Your pubic hair provides a barrier between your genitals and all that friction. Without it, you're susceptible to heat rash and chafing, neither of which looks sexy in the morning.

Shaving your pubic hair detracts from your sex appeal.

Cosmetic argument aside, your pubic hair is meant to make you more attractive to potential mates. Pubic hair traps your smell close to your body, and a huge part of attraction comes from smell.

Have you ever found yourself head-over-heels for someone you know is all wrong for you? You try fighting the attraction, but you just can't keep your hands to yourself? If this has happened to you, it's a simple matter of biology. You've probably found someone with compatible chemistry, someone with a smell you just can't say no to.

The whole craze of shaving pubic hair is hypocritical. Not only that, the bumps you get can lead to infections. I work in for a gynecologist, and we have seen a couple cases of toxic shocks syndrome due to bumps becoming infected. Theses were not street people or something - they are wealthy, affluent women with good personal hygiene. Lastly, about the hypocrisy -- we have this big taboo about wanting to or having sex with pre-teens (and younger) so why do we try to make ourselves look like preteens (which is why porno stars do it, to be sure - to look younger)? And no, I do not believe all the excuses about sensitivity and so forth. That's just a bunch of intellectual dishonesty. There is no difference in sensitivity.

I cannot believe this old hag talking like this. She has never had the plesure only a woman that shaves/waxes would know. LADIES, dont make the decision to NOT shave because of this crazy dame. If you have a partner, they will love that you did this.

wouldn't it be the same for women to shave pr wax or trim or whatever just like we do to the rest of the hairs on our body and its not that big of a deal what does it really matter anyway if we shave or not i know most men probably wouldn't since they don't shave anyway but they should probably try to stay well groomed but i think that its fine for women since we shave everything anyway right?

Ladies, dont listen to this old bag. My wife began shaving a year after we got married. I began shaving about a year after that. You have no idea what you are missing. Shaving anywhere will be itchy the first time and the first few days. THAT goes away with repeated shaving or didn't everyone know that? Guys, until you hear the sighs of indescribable delight that comes from your woman as she feels your warm wet tongue gliding across her clitoris and labia without the obstructing and sensory depriving nasty old hairs, you simply have not lived. My girl smells clean, delightful, tastes fabulous and it is so unbelievably sexy, you will wonder why you waited so long once you try it and get past the first initial itching. I promise it will go away. Just have a little patience, use the best 5 blade razor and aloevera shaving gel. Live a little. Don't be like this old grump, Esther

Esther November is an old prude and a major stick in the mud. I bet she keeps the lights off when she has sex. She nauseates me with all her so called reasons for note shaving. I have been shaving for decades just like my husband both pubic and on his face. We are both alive and well and happy and comfortable just as millions of other sexy people are. She needs to go back to the farm where she came from. I can't stomach jerks like her.

Huh. I'm surprised so many of the comments are pro-pubic hair. Personally, I think you've got issues if you think a shaved woman reminds you of a little girl.

Ladies, Please, PLEASE don't listen to the little boys that think looking like a little girl is sexy. Most men are perplexed about the obsession women have for shaving their pubic hair. Having pubic hair has almost become phobia which is sad. It's there because men find it very sexy and it's not what you see... it's what you don't see and leave to your imagination that's really sexy and HOT! Most men I've spoken to on the subject didn't like to see a woman totally or extremely shaved because it made her look like a little girl and that doesn't interest "real" men. This is not to say we want a "cave woman". A neat and modest trim to accommodate today's swim wear is perfect. Another MYTH......you must shave because it's good hygiene. I've recently read there is a new process to curb any problem in this area. It's called soap and water and daily bathing. In fact, most men tend to think women who shave, do so because the don't have good hygiene habits, so the next time so

Brad, you are truely and idiot. "...(men)would all go with a shaved on". pure bs. why would i want to be with a woman that looks like a 10yr old down there.
