king trails, numerous shopping centers & malls, and plenty of museums & theatres.

Plenty of people in various Rochester message boards always ask where in the area they should live. Here are my top 3 picks where you can get the most out of your dollar, and be close to all the amenities.

1. The town of Penfield

The town of Penfield follows a plan for all growth, which allows the town to grow and at the same time still maintain the small town feel that most people moved there for. This town is on the east side of the city of Rochester, and is roughly about 12 miles from the downtown business district. There are plenty of shopping centers and parks right within the town. Most of the older homes you'll find are on main roads in town, while some of the newer homes are found within developments.

2. The village of East Rochester

The village of East Rochester is located roughly 7 miles east of downtown Rochester, and was first developed as a planned community for the railroads around 1900. The village is almost fully developed with older homes in a variety of styles. There is one parcel of land that is being developed for newer homes and town-homes. The village has convenient expressway access, putting you only minutes from most destinations in the area.

3. The town of Webster

Hi. Great article. I was born in Watertown, NY and have relatives in Rochester. It's a beautiful place to live.
