To add to the punch of the trailer premier, within moments of the broadcast debut, the Pirate's 3 trailer starring Johnny Depp, will be presented online in a simultaneous broadcast to as many as 30 countries, in an estimated 26 languages. Impressive launch for a scraggly bunch of swashbucklers. By the end of the promotional week, over 200 million people will have had direct access the the trailer.
With box office busting stats for Pirates 2, Dead Man's Chest, smashing records worldwide, the send off of Pirates 3, AWE is a natural concept; nevertheless the scope afforded by today's technologies in debuting such an event is impressive, even by Disney standards.
In a Buena Vista Pictures press release, additional screenings are announced. "Following its domestic and online debut, the international broadcast "roadblock" will introduce the trailer within a 48-hour period around the world, with simulcasts on popular programs and prime time new shows in such countries as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Korea, and Latin America and Russia. In addition to the broadcast launches, each territory will partner with print and online outlets to maximize exposure.
The trailer will make its online premiere in High Definition at Yahoo! Movies, home of the largest collection of High Definition movie trailers and clips. As the top destination for movie fans, Yahoo! Movies is already hosting a dedicated countdown for the eagerly-awaited trailer, drawing an enthusiast "Pirates" community. Simultaneously, it will launch on the newly re-designed http://Disney.com, and via the "Pirate Viral Player" (http://pirates.movies.com) which can be added to websites, social networking pages and blogs, and will feature a continuous feed of Pirates video content through the film's release."
