Career College Credits Do Not Transfer
Beware of Career College Academic Credits
Are you paying thousands of dollars for career college credits that will not transfer? This article is intended to scare you stiff. To make you realize that you may be taken for thousands of dollars by a career school, only to find that your credits do not transfer elsewhere.
This article wants you to be aware that if you take any business courses at any school accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS,) when you want to transfer to a state school or apply for a MBA at a state school, there is almost a 100 percent chance your credits WILL NOT TRANSFER.
Here is the very scary statement made by the ACICS on their website.
"Students seeking to transfer earned credits should be aware that policies at some traditional colleges and universities have not kept pace with the mobility of today's students. Some universities accept academic credits or degrees only from institutions that are regionally accredited, even though the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and the Commission on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) have endorsed the principle that transfer of credit should not be denied solely on the basis of source of institutional accreditation ."
Take away the PR spin and what the ACICS is really saying, "Your credits will not transfer."
You can check out any career college by going to their website and seeing what they say about the transfer of credits. Let's take the Minnesota School of Business as an example. Here is what they have buried on their website:
"Accreditation is an important consideration for smooth transfer of courses and programs between colleges and universities, but does not guarantee credit transfer."
Be scared. Very scared. You will find that ""disclaimer" on every career college website. It is called "covering your butt."
Ask this question. If you pay a career college thousands of dollars for a degree, why can't they guarantee that the credits transfer?
