The boys of summer are back. It's time for ice-cold beer, chili dogs, and America's favorite past time - baseball!. Celebrate the beginning of the Major League Baseball season this Sunday with an op
ening game day party for the baseball fans in your life. This is a great party idea for some quality family time or as a child's birthday party, but it is also a lot of fun with your favorite sports buddies.

For another cute idea, Send out invitations shaped like baseball game tickets, but with front row seats to your television instead. Then decide which ballpark favorites to serve at your opening game party. You can order in pizza or make your own. For a cute twist, arrange pepperonis on the top of a large cheese pizza in two semi-circles to represent the baseball stitching. Or create a buffet of ballpark favorites, like hamburger, chili dogs, hot wings, roasted salted peanuts and loaded nachos. With a little creativity you can personalize some easy desserts to celebrate your favorite baseball team or certain players.

Look for cookie cutters shaped like your favorite baseball mascot; a bird for the St. Louis Cardinals, a Christmas stocking decorated for the Boston Red Sox, or a cat colored orange for the Detroit Tigers.make cupcakes in your favorite cake flavor. Cover them with icing the color of your favorite baseball team's jerseys and use the team's other color to write player numbers on each cupcake.

Prepare a few baseball party favors for your guests to help them get in the spirit for your favorite team. Numerous on-line distributors offer baseball-themed favors that can be personalized for your friends. Baseball eye-glasses, baseball stress balls, baseball beads, baseball and bat shaped candies - all are inexpensive favors to delight your guests.

To really set the mood, spend a little time on the Internet looking for team-specific items. For example, you could get the Inflatable Fenway Park which is just large enough to serve as a chip or candy bowl. Another on-line find is the 2006 World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals edition Mr. Potato Head with his own Cardinals jersey and hat.

  • Make your own pizza to look like a baseball, using pepperonis.
  • Make cupcakes with your favorite baseball players' jersey numbers on each one.
  • Personalize a "baseball card" for each guest using Photoshop.
