As a tween I was obsessed with make up, caking it on to cover my blemishes. Although Cover girl always proved to have "cake-able" makeup, The flawless, airbrushed look could never be achieved through their $3 bargain product. Over the years I converted to being a strictly Maybelline foundation user. Although these products proved to blend better, they, among many other affordable brands, didn't live up to their advertisements. I was still on the search for a more user friendly make up.

The next problem I faced with the multiple foundations I tried was the skin shades that they were available in. First you have sheet white, followed by orange followed by leather. Only one or two shades are even offered for those with darker skin tones. Myself being somewhere between sheet white and orange, I could never get the color right. Okay, so maybe that was an exaggeration; however, matching skin tones perfectly is nearly impossible.

This past week I was home on spring break, and being as forgetful as I am, I left my foundation in my dorm room. Just to humor myself I decided to try to use my mother's foundation and then dilute it with moisturizer (her skin is several shades darker than mine). I picked up her bottle of True blend and first I was amused by how liquid its texture was. After smoothing the make up over my face and blending with a makeup wedge, I looked into the mirror and was astonished to see that I didn't see any dark makeup lines. I didn't even have to add moisturizer. I finished the look by applying the matching pressed powder. It covered my problem areas well and wasn't the least bit cakey. Needless to say, a few days later I made a special trip to Wal-Mart and picked up the makeup in my own shade.

The shade that I purchased matches my skin tone almost perfectly, hiding any uneven skin tones and redness while allowing my own natural skin pigments to shine through. Of all the foundation on the market right now I feel that this is the best one of the moment.
