Digital Angel - Is Technology Going Too Far?
With the rise of terrorism sweeping the world, micro-chip implants have emerged.
Growing controversial issues about humans being "micro-chipped" for security reasons have given way to serious fears and concerns. Whether people want it or not, it's already here, and the reality is rapidly
accelerating.
Americans are already tolerating the FOIA (Acronym: Freedom of Information Act), where privacy is being wittled away each day by hungry "information stalkers" who thrive on seeking to exploit and to know every iota of information they can find about any individual they want. They do this simply for the "power pleasure" of securing people around their little fingers, either to spam and monopolize on people's lives ranging anywhere from incessant telemarketing to unpleasant visitations at someone's private residential front AND back door.
As if this isn't enough, technology has now added to the weight of privacy invasion by introducing "data micro-chip implants", where virtually every known information about a country's citizen will be encrypted into one very small implantable chip that can easily be inserted underneath the skin of a person where it will seamlessly merge and blend with the individual's metabolism.
"Is nothing sacred anymore?", will ironically become a trodden phrase and disappear in time if home-land security has its way.
Naturally, national security very well understands the psychological implications if they rush in too fast. Therefore, it's much easier to condition individuals to "want" to be micro-chipped. How does the saying go? It's easier to catch a fly with honey?
And so, the process has begun.
Realistically, we do need an organizational infra-structure in order to keep things....well...organized. Tagging store items is acceptable. Tagging people, however, is another issue altogether different. There's a threshold limit to every reality, and humans being micro-chipped has far surpassed its ethical boundaries.
Thus, enters the latest technology that specializes on realites which have brought about much controversy.
