I've been happily writing for Associated Content since 2005. AC is the fifth website I've produced content for on a regular basis, and the umpteenth I've contributed to, thus far. My writing time was divided heavily at first, so I didn't begin to seriously write for AC until 2006. Since that time, I've been asked by some of the newer content producers about what "my secrets" are for being a "successful" content producer for AC. I guess "being successful" includes earning one of the largest performances bonuses for the month of February too. Here are some tips and advice, from my humble point of view, on how to earn bigger monthly performance bonuses from Associated Content:

1. Write What You Know
I realize it's a worn out mantra, but it's so true that it bears repeating. When you write what you know about, your articles are automatically injected with passion and personal knowledge. And your readers can tell. They know you're not regurgitating text from a website or an encyclopedia. You're sharing with them valuable advice and facts from your personal experiences. Reading articles that share information with you is like talking to a friend. And, just like you enjoy talking to a friend time and time again, if your readers like what you have to share with them, they'll keep coming back for more.

There's nothing wrong with expanding your horizons and writing articles about subject you don't know much about. As long as you do plenty of research until you have a very good understanding of the subject, and you know what you're talking about, that is. Personally, I think that's one of the biggest causes of plagiarism. Writers take on subjects they have little knowledge about, and they end up copying information from sources, then try to pass it off as their own work. Most likely the worst sin a person can commit in the world of writing.

Thank you so much for these valuable tips! I have learned a lot since starting writing for AC. My humble goal of making $100 a month total (PV bonus and upfront payments!) is helping me pay for graduate school (I attend school, work full time, and have a toddler--whew!). The more money I can make from PV bonus the better. Thank you!

Good tips. A lot of the stuff I know a whole lot about is only of interest to a select group of nerds. I use mostly things that have been pleasant diversions in my life.
