Ellwood City, Pennsylvania Getting Ready for 29th Annual Arts, Crafts and Food Festival
As the heat of Summer begins rolling in, Ellwood City, Pennsylvania is eagerly awaiting the annual Arts, Crafts and Food Festival. This will be the twenty ninth year for the festival. In 2009, the dates for the event are July 3, 4, & 5. One weekend, three days, to enjoy some really great food or take a look at some of the coolest crafts from across the United States.
When the annual gathering first occurred, no one imagined the event would gain such notoriety. Truly for our little town to attract visitors is a great chance for all off us to show off our stuff. Thanks to the performance area provided by the pavilion at Ewing Park. Granted parking can sometimes be a chore, but the groups that run the parking lots have kept the charges reasonable, and not started to gouge the public.
According to http://www.ellwood-city-festival.net/ this years event will feature more than two hundred art and craft booths. This is a safe bet that anyone can find something that they like. Besides even if you are not into crafts, you will enjoy some of the areas best foods.
Everything from pie to pasta, from lamb to hot dogs to pizza is available every July Fourth weekend in the park. Many of the local clubs rely on these three days to raise money, and they succeed. Personally, I like to grab a bowl of shells and meatballs, and then head over for a strawberry shortcake to top things off. I usually pick up a funnel cake for the kids.
Speaking of kids, the area of the park where the children's play ground usually sits gets transformed into the Kid's Corner. Specifically designed crafts the not quite old enough crowd can enjoy. From face painting to sand themed crafts, the kids will have a ball.
Of course on the last night of the Festival, Ellwood City lights up the skies. The folks from Zambelli Fireworks, from nearby New Castle, PA by the way, put on quite a display for the residents of the area in Ellwood City's own High School Stadium. The fireworks display usually packs in the crowds.
