These Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools are the perfect DIY project you can make for your kids. The kids can sit on the Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools while you serve up some hot breakfast!

These Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools are perfect for furnishing your home kitchen.

You and the kids can make it for your own home over the weekend. Working with all of these materials can sound a little intimidating, but you will be pleasantly surprised how easy it really is!

To make these Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools you will need to spread it out over a couple days, so working over the weekend will probably work best. While you won't be working on the Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools craft project all day long, you do need to allow for time for materials to dry.

To Make Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools You Will Need:

4 Vintage wood shutters

4 sheets of plywood or MDF cut to the same size (optional)

8 L brackets

1 Sheet of plywood or MDF for the top

Milk paint

Now, on to building the Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools. Most bar stools are about 24 to 29 inches tall. Be sure to measure an existing kitchen stools so it will work with your Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools.

Now, measure your piece of seat. This will be the square piece of MDF you had cut. Everyone will have a different size, so I can only give you tips on how to know how large to make your Vintage Wood Shutter Bar Stools.

Make it slightly larger than the square your vintage wood shutters make. Now, measure how wide the square is.

Have your 4 pieces of MDF cut to size as you vintage wood shutters. They will lend support, since the actual vintage wood window shutters will not really support a ton of weight.

Now, the first step is to paint the front and back of your sheets of MDF or plywood with the Milk paint. Let this dry, and then paint on another coat of milk paint. You can also go ahead and put a coat on the vintage wood window shutters as well.

Let all of the paint dry.

Install L brackets to hold the four pieces of MDF together in a square. Install an L bracket at the top and bottom of each corner.

You can attach the top of the Kitchen table with L brackets on the inside as well.

Takeaways
  • You can attach the top of the Kitchen table with L brackets on the inside as well.
  • Now install your vintage wood shutters to cover the outsides of the bar stools.
  • No one will know there is MDF inside.
Did You Know?
Before you install the MDF square that is the seat you could even upholsterer it. Simply have a piece of foam cut to size, then wrap the top with some vintage fabric and staple in place underneath.
