You may love to read, but do you love the high price of new novels? More than likely, you don't. This is one of the reasons people don't buy more novels or read as much as they would like to. Fortunately, there are several different ways to read your favorite books for free.

Where to Find Books for Free #1: Library

Everyone knows about the library, but how often do you visit the library? The library is a wonderful place to find your favorite books for free. Even if you have a small library, you will still be able to request novels from other libraries. Another added benefit of the library is most libraries offer a quiet place for you to sit and read. If you have children, this may be just what you were looking for.

Where to Find Books for Free #2: Paperback Swap

A friend of mine told me about this wonderful website. Paperback Swap is a site that allows you to get paperbacks for free. It's very simple to join and post your paperbacks. All you need to do to get started is to post 9 books. To post these paperbacks you just need to enter the ISBN number and the website does the rest of the work for you. Once you have listed 9 books, you will receive 3 free credits. As people choose your novels, you will receive more credits once the paperback has arrived at that member's home. It does cost money to ship the books, but you don't have to pay to have paperbacks shipped to you so it evens out. This site has over one million novels listed so you're bound to find something that you'll enjoy.

Where to Find Books for Free #3: Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a website that allows you to download novels from their website. Project Gutenberg is actually one of the oldest websites offering you the ability to read your favorite books for free. These are older books that are now free from copyright restrictions. The site has over 20,000 free books available. Project Gutenberg even allows you to download your favorite books to your PDA or cell phone.

Great article! I love Project Gutenberg and have been using it for years. I use it with my computer reading software so that the computer reads the books to me.

Gutenberg is great, but Google Books is another place, now that they've removed the under-copyright books! Easy to read formats too. I've been checking out ebooks online from my library; I can get free books naked. Awesome.

I started reviewing books for a web site. Between that and reviewing Cds, all of my interests are provided to me for free. Just have to write a review afterwards.
