A Tale of Family Love... And Gold

In a village beneath the woods stood a small hut built by a hunter for his lovely and kindhearted wife, named helena. They were blessed with an equally good- natured son named ferdie. Everyday, Ferdie would help his father hunt for food, and bring it home for helena to cook. He would then help is mot
her cook and do the household chores.

After running errands, Helena would tell Ferdie a story before tucking him to bed. One of Ferdie's favorites was the story about a hundred bags of gold hidden under a blue waterfall. "But that was different," his mother would tell him "..because that is a true story, locals here can testify to that." Explains his mom.

"I love that story more because its real."." he'd tell his mother.

When Ferdie was 8 year old, his father accidentally fell on a cliff and died. Although it was painful for both ferdie and his mom, they accepted the fate. Each day without Ferdie's father is a hard day and they missed him a lot. They had a hard time coping, but they tried to. Helena made her son realize that they still have each other. Helena drew strength from her son's faith in her, and Ferdie drew strength from his mother's love.. and they survived.

After three years, Helena mastered fishing, and hunting for tame animals like rabbit and deer. This she did for living. She even grew vegetables in their backyard. And in all of these, Ferdie was her help. The boy adores his mom because although tired and restless, Helena never complained. "This is all for you, son," she'd give him a hug whenever possible.

After hours of hunting for food one day, Helena was halfway home when it rained hard. She went home all soaked up, and she's terribly ill. Ferdie touched his mom. She had fever. He hurriedly reached the medicine. Thank God, after a while, his mom cooled down.

But Ferdie was weary. He thought of his mother's condition. She's getting weaker as she grow old, this is all because of too much work. Ferdie thought that if they were rich, his mother wo'nt have to work. But they were very poor.
