In Russia, married couples are supposed to wear their wedding bands on their right hand, not on the left like what most Westerners do. Doing so would create an impression that the person concerned is a widow (if female) or a widower (if male).

Chinese, on the other hand, use their Chinese calendar in choosing an ideal wedding date. They always associate the inception of luck on the day of the wedding. Opting to marry each other on a bad timing will bring bad luck to the couple's married life.

In the Philippines, the bride is not supposed to wear her wedding dress until the wedding day itself. Wearing the wedding dress before the wedding day would result to mishap, misfortunes, or would break off the wedding itself. So even if it means wearing the gown to plainly check on the fitting, it is definitely a big no-no.

All of these things pertain to wedding customs. All over the world, wedding customs differ according to the cultures and beliefs of a particular country or lineage. In most cases, wedding customs reflect old traditions that have been handed down from one generation to another. However, with today's modern world, some wedding customs remain in effect accompanying the belief that things might happen if they will not succumb to such wedding customs.

With all these things in retrospect, one can simply say that the battle ground for wedding customs is clearly reflected on whether it is still reasonable to follow these practices. Some people say that most wedding customs have been connected with ancient beliefs, the time when phenomenal experiences were always associated with their everyday activities. And luck has always been connected to one's activity.

For instance, choosing the wedding day is tantamount to the kind of luck you will receive in your married life. Wedding customs suggest that you should not choose Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as your wedding day because you will have losses, crosses, or no luck at all.
