Everyone has insecurities. Some are pronounced and some are hidden. It is difficult to face them because they are usually accompanied by fear. Fear is a destructive entity that feeds on insecurities. The only way to defeat this is to face those insecurities. Many times it is easier to say it than it is to do it.

Insecurities are sometimes difficult to define. Many people have issues with confrontation. In order to overcome this, a person must learn techniques to effectively contend with an awkward situation. I have found it important to keep a win/win thought in mind. When this is the mindset, any situation can be defused and as a result, the results will be positive. Many people have personal insecurities that involve meeting new people, starting a new job, talking to strangers, driving, and the list is endless. These insecurities have to be addressed. Once addressed, they can be dealt with one at a time. On occasion, when one insecurity is dealt with, it can often solve other, related ones.

Insecurities are usually a smaller part of a much larger problem. It is important to get to the reason for the insecurity. Doing some quiet, deep soul searching or maybe just quiet though is very effective for some people. Group counseling or possibly therapy are also good ways to come to the beginning of the problem. It is never pleasant to turn a critical eye on yourself, but it is extraordinarily effective. Be prepared to shed some tears and express your true feelings. It is necessary to be able to come to grips with the root of the problem. From this stage, you will be able to address your insecurities. By determining the reasons and disspelling them, the insecurities will fade away.

Now if you could write about effective ways to deal with awkward situations it might save me the time of doing it myself! I have forgotten to keep a win/win attitude in my mind, and perhaps that is the only answer I need. Great article.
