GettingMarriedinNEPA.com recently launched is online wedding directory, targeted toward those planning a wedding in the Wilkes-Barre and Scranton areas of Northeast Pennsylvania. The site's main page links users to pages such as "The Bride," "The Groom," "The Reception & Ceremony," and well, "Everything Else."
Under each main page are subcategory pages that link users to every Wilkes-Barre and Scranton area wedding service imaginable: wedding gowns, wedding favors, local wedding reception sites, tuxedo rental, transportation, honeymoon information, DJs, bands, wedding officiants, caterers, tent and toilet rental and more.
The wedding guide was a much-needed service says the site's creator.
"Newly engaged myself, I turned to the web for local information. There was nothing comprehensive. My goal is to create the most comprehensive and maintained list of wedding service providers in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and surrounding areas," said the site's webmaster.
She adds that the key to making GettingMarriedinNEPA.com as jam-packed with wedding listings as possible is to offer listings free of charge.
"I feel that for the guide to be respected, used and expansive, I need to include everyone. Every wedding vendor I could find received a complimentary listing. I do offer enhanced listings as a way for vendors to stand out from the rest, and also to cover costs for my time and fees," she said.
She added that she plans to use search marketing through Google and Yahoo to promote the site, as well as other unconventional methods of promotion, such as a MySpace page she already has set up.
"I've found a lot of other wedding vendors on MySpace as I was 'adding friends' so it was very cool to join an existing community," she said.
