Oregon Area that is Not Just a Beach

Just over the Yaquina Bay Bridge lies the section of Newport known as South Beach. Quite possibly because it is south of Newport and some of its territory encompasses shore property along the Pacific Ocean. Even though it is a quiet little section of enjoyment, the attractions are numerous for all ages.

The Hatfield Marine Science Center and Aquarium can be visited by babies to seniors holding anyones attention for hours. Stroll through the fully operated, educational facility done by Oregon State University and 5 state and federal agencies. The name was placed for the former U.S. Senator Mark Hatfield who probably still enjoys the ways this center adds to anyone who visits the outdoor and inside exhibits offered. The trained graduate students, researchers, staff from the Oregon department of fish and Wildlife can aptly answer you multitude of questions at designated displays throughout the center. As if that is not impressive enough, OSU faculty, US department of agriculture along with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with the Alaska Fisheries Science center are affiliated with The Hatfield Marine Science Center in South Beach, Newport, Oregon. One has the ultimate experience of hands on with some of the marine life that is at hand level for all.

Just around the corner from this agricultural and experiment station is a mini mall of special delight. 3101 SE Ferry Slip Road is within walking distance from the science center where one can experience the individual shops of many tasteful wares. This, to me was a treat for the eyes as soon as I viewed the outside of the buildings. Each has a distinctive flair and rather than describe one or all, I won't spoil it for you to be completely surprised by their varied beauty and interesting decor. The " Aquarium Village", will, I am sure entrance you like it did me. In fact this is a place I bring all my visitors to when they come to my home. Swords, beach shells, handmade wares, jewelry, antiques, artwork and so much more can be viewed and purchased at this wonderful mall.
