My 4th of July Playlist for Your Independence Day Celebration
A Playlist for Fourth of July: Getting Ready for the Fireworks!
You know Independence Day is upon us when you start seeing those tent-side merchants along the busy highways across the country selling fireworks, fire crackers, sparklers, rockets, missles, etc. Here is a new twist on a Fourth of July Playlist. These 15 featured songs can be played at different times throughout the course of your Independence Day festivities. Instead of the typical 4th of July playlist that everyone else seems to have why not get one that sets the mood, tone, and vibe of the occasion. They are broken down into three separate stages with five songs in each one. The first one I've titled is The Gathering. These are the songs to play at the beginning when friends and family start to arrive. It gets everyone in the mood to start partying. The second one is titled BBQ's, Picnics, and Fun. When the food is cooking on the grill, or in the kitchen, then later on it's ready to eat that's when these songs will set the tone. Last but never least, is the grand finale, Firecrackers and Fireworks. The vibe is in the air while everyone anticipates watching the fireworks display at some designated location or setting off your own fire crackers at home. Please be careful if you plan on setting off your own fireworks.
The Gathering
1.) Miss Independent - Kelly Clarkson: The former and the very first American Idol definitely gets the party started with her unbelievable vocals. Her song has a mixture of fast and slow tempos.
2.) We Are Family - Sister Sledge: A higly infectious song that is ideal for your guests. They'll be dancing in no time.
3.) American Girl - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: The title is appropriate for the occasion. It's upbeat, but not too raucous.
4.) American Pie - Don McLean: The lyrics are filled with Americana of an innocent time gone by. It's another mellow song that is a nice interlude to quiet things down.
5.) Young Americans - David Bowie: I like the lyric "Do you remember, your President Nixon?" The song is a bit more provocative and introspective, but has a very catchy hook.
