I walk through life surrounded by people with which I cannot share my secret. In my time wandering amongst the masses I have opened this hidden truth to few and received mostly ridicule and belittlement from those I've entrusted. When I've spoken to strangers on the topic they believe my words to be untrue. Yet I know that each and every person out there has this same secret; however deeply buried in him or her it may be.

I have successfully sought out others with this same feeling in a variety of situations: churches, workplaces, schools, etc. Like myself those few people who truly understand what it is I'm feeling are lost within a sea of voices saying it does not exist or exists only in the imagination. Those of us who attempt to share these feelings are cast off into the corners when what we feel is pure and good and should be brought into the light.

Yet, in our society people have been killed for sharing this feeling with the world around them in their words, their actions or their art. Others lock themselves away in their homes unable to bare the oppression society has to offer. It is as if we are trapped, hidden within the shadows at the bottom of a very large box.

What those of us are feeling is not wrong. It is something to be fostered and celebrated. It should be something in which we revel and rejoice instead of recoiling or ridiculing. As a civilization we have reached the point where acceptance should replace tolerance and those with goodness in their souls should be free from fear as they walk down the street.

I believe that we are on the threshold of attaining acceptance in the world for what it is that I keep hidden. It is only when people are free to believe their heart without the intervention of religious, social or governmental agendas will such a revolution begin. The greatest gift we possess as humans is our ability to adapt, but our blueprinting only allows us to adapt when a negative factor influences our lives. We need to rewrite or override our instinct to reject something new and embrace something that is truly not bad or evil.
