ChaCha is a new social search engine that allows you to as a searcher to search the web with the live help of a ChaCha guide. The guide chats with you through an instant messaging system to help you look for the information you need.

To make money, you need to be a ChaCha guide. ChaCha has been hiring guides since the search engine's launch last September. Once hired, you begin as an apprentice. Once you pass some tests and help with several searches, you can advance to the Pro position. Once a ChaCha pro guide, you will start making $5 per hour. Eventually you can move to the highest level as a ChaCha guide, the Elite guide position. Once you are a ChaCha Elite guid you will earn $10 per hour and also make 10 percent of ChaCha's ad earnings.

How do you become a ChaCha guide? Basically all you need is a computer with high-speed internet access, a good familiarity with search engines, basic grammar and spelling ability, and a desire to help people in a quick manner.

Right now you have to be invited to be a ChaCha guide by someone who is already a ChaCha guide. That is really pretty simple, many web forums have people who invite others to be a guide. Just do a Google search and you'll find a place to ask for an invite in no time.

Once you are invited to become a ChaCha guide, you will watch some training videos and take a short test where you will answer some basic questions. You then go through an unpaid training period which can range from 10 to 20 unpaid searches. By then you will have the hang of things and will start to get paid. Once you reach this point you may also be put in charge of other guides. You can earn $5 per hour as a Pro guide and $5 commissions from referrals once you reach the Master level.

To get paid by ChaCha you will either need to get a debit card sent by ChaCha, or you can receive a monthly direct deposit into your bank account. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to be a U.S. resident to become a guide with ChaCha or get paid. Their registration form states that you need to have a permit to work as an independent contractor in the U.S.

Takeaways
  • ChaCha allows you to make money helping others search
  • After signing up, you watch training videos and conduct practice searches before getting paid
  • Eventually you can earn $10/hr plus referral commissions with ChaCha
