NFL Preview: 2009-2010

Big Storylines to Watch in the Upcoming NFL season

After the last two NFL seasons, we now know we don't know what to expect about the upcoming season, but I will try to show you the big changes for this season and from that you can draw your own conclusions.

The last two super bowls are going to be hard to beat, with a sixth seed winning it one year and a nail-biter finish for the other. The 2009-2010 season has a lot to live up to. Another thing to remember for this season is that we are coming up on a possible no salary cap year; this could cause several big and interesting deals for the season.

In case we forget, let's remember the big teams last year. The titans came out of nowhere, nearly having an undefeated season led by their veteran defense and quarterback Kerry Collins. It is hard to say they will match that this year, with an aging team and controversies surrounding big name back up, Vince Young. The Steelers were the Super Bowl Champions last year and they, for the most part, did that by boasting one of the best defenses that we have ever seen. The Cardinals, who lost to the Steelers, could have a very good season next year. They combine a weak division with a young team, and they were able to keep superstar Anquan Boldin around, and it looks as if he wants to stay there.

It is important to remember teams like Carolina, who had a great year last year, and they were able to sign superstar defensive end Julius Peppers back. Remember Carolina as a sleeper pick to win it all. Don't forget the Patriots either. They had an undefeated season up to the Super Bowl two years ago, and had eleven wins this year without Tom Brady. The team may be aging, but it still has the firepower to torch any defense in the league.
