Michael Jackson Passes Away - Leaves Great Legacy Behind
Michael Jackson Dies at 50
While preparing for a new tour in London, Michael Jackson suffered cardiac arrest at his rental home in L.A. Rushed to UCLA, reports poured in that he was not breathing when paramedics arrived. Depending on who you heard it from, paramedics either were, or were not able to revive him. The L.A. Times announced that Michael Jackson is no longer in a coma, but has in fact died.Though Michael had his share of gossip, and negative publicity, I'd like to bring attention to what he truly leaves behind.
Michael was the world's greatest performer.
From the age of 5, he performed as the lead singer of the Jackson 5, along with his 4 brothers. They began in local clubs in Gary, IN. In 1968 they auditioned for Barry Gordy of Motown Records. Once signed, they recorded 14 albums with Motown, and 6 albums with Epic records under the name The Jacksons.
In 1977, Michael starred in 'The Wiz' with Diana Ross, where he met Quincy Jones. Together they produced his first solo album 'Off The Wall'. This album was a huge success, the first album to release four No. 1 singles in the United States.
In 1982 Michael released 'Thriller' the largest selling album of all time. Breaking his former record, the album had seven No. 1 hits, and sold over 50 million copies worldwide. Not a singer before, or since has yet to touch his record as a performer.
In his later years, Jackson became more of a business man. He focused less on performing and more on maintaining his empire. However, it was reported that he was having financial difficulties and he sold his beloved Neverland Ranch in 2008. Around the same time, he announced his plans for a 50 concert tour in London as his "final curtain call".
Unfortunately, he never got the chance.
Michael Jackson will not only be missed as a great entertainer around the world, but as a father to his 3 children, Prince Michael, Paris Michael and Prince Michael II.
