Creator of Michael Jackson's Thriller Movie Sues Jackson in 2009
Landis Gets No Cut While Dr. Tohme Makes His
Michael Jackson's 14-minute movie Thriller was co-written and directed by filmmaker John Landis in 1982. In January of 2009 Landis claimed in a lawsuit that Jackson owed him big time. In "approximate" that would be $1 million of money owed and royalties. The file was to be settled by the L.A. Superior Court in California."Fraudulent, malicious and oppressive conduct" in cutting Landis a check was stated upon the claim, as the lawsuit was a last resort to gather the financial promise as stated by the attorney for Landis, Martin Feldman.
In early January of 2009 Jackson sold the rights to Thriller to the theatrical Nederlander Organization. Neverland and Nederlander may be two different things.
Jackson's 2009 Health:
"Mr. Jackson is in fine health and finalizing negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances," said Jackson's rep, Dr. Tohme at that time.
Dr. Tohme was not available for comment after Landis filed, but what are they saying now that the King of Pop is dead?
TMZ.com recieves a statement from John Landis following the death of 50-year-old Michael Jackson, it states:
"I was lucky enough to know and work with Michael Jackson in his prime. Michael was an extraordinary talent and a truly great international star. He had a troubled and complicated life and despite his gifts, remains a tragic figure. My wife Deborah and I will always have great affection for him."
Even though Dr. Tohme repeatedly denied in the past of any health issues Michael was facing as shared in Sponkit.com, Dr. Tohme can not deny it now. As for a statement released after Michael Jackson's death on behalf of Dr. Tohme, I have yet found that needle in a haystack. However, the day is not over yet.
The lawsuit may or may not continue, that remains to be seen, as the stresses of Michael Jackson's life seem to be mounting during 2009.
