Anna Nicole Smith's untimely demise was covered by just about every news and media outlet in the known universe. Her death received just slightly less airtime then the moon landing or Real World reruns on MTV. Now it is being reported that a movie is in the works. This movie will detail the life and times, including the tragic end, of Anna Nicole Smith.

I couldn't care less.

I mean it. It would be impossible for me to care any less than I do right now. It's not just that I don't care about this movie. I don't care about Anna Nicole Smith in general. I didn't care when she was in Playboy. I didn't care when she married a man 239 years old. I didn't care when that guy died and she got his money. I didn't care when his family sued her. I didn't care when she had her own television show. I didn't care when she lost weight. I didn't even care when she died.

Don't misunderstand me. I do not wish death upon anybody other than those unfortunately individuals in immense pain and the guy who shot John Lennon. I wasn't happy when Anna Nicole Smith was found dead. I just didn't care. It didn't phase me. Sadly, we live in a world where countless people die everyday. Anna Nicole Smith was no different.

Or at least that's what I thought. Boy was I wrong. In one of the most absurd pieces of "journalism" I have ever seen, every major news station covered this story. They actually broke into their normal broadcasts just to discuss the life of Anna Nicole Smith.

Then it was reported that there was a controversy about the true father of her baby girl. This has been my favorite part of the whole saga. One day I made the mistake of turning on MSNBC to, you know, find out what was going on in the world. I caught the end of a report about the war in Iraq. An American soldier had just been killed. At the end of that story the news anchor (I can't remember which) moved on to talk to a writer for some entertainment magazine so that the two could discuss Anna Nicole Smith's baby.

Amazing.

One more thing.... I was also shocked that she had died, and it was very sad, but many other people have died who deserve recognition and will never receive it - people who I would be interested in learning more about. I'm not against the movie by any means, but I won't be watching it either.

Heartless comments? What makes Anna Nicole any better than any other person who had a hard life, became addicted to drugs, and made other very, very stupid decisions? Great article Zac. Bravo! Wait a minute. Okay...not Bravo. We don't like that station either. ;-) Five stars for you!

I agree with Jean on this, but I'll add this: the public, too, has some say into what the media covers. Ratings and postings on the Net about ANS spiked up after she died...

I can't say that I have an affinity for her, but my highest page views have been for her articles - one was over 8500 PV. So I guess there are a lot of people who really do care.

Great article, I swear this was such a sad case as someone else said, but to make a movie out of it? I wouldn't wacht it, but I'm sure there are alot of people who would.

Oh. Excellent article!

Good Article! She was a sad case, but really just a drug addicted stripper. Who wants to see a movie about that?

Haha, I watched the Real Housewives during one of the marathons. I thought it was amazing that they all have about twenty cars and still go out and buy brand new ones. Yeah, I had forgotten to approve my article for submission for a few weeks, so it's old news. Oh well.

I'm laughing at the end part of the title of this article, Who Cares?, and everyone that has commented here agreeing----isn't funny that no one cares enough to write about it, or comment on it

I agree with you completely, Zac. I don't understand why anyone is interested in this woman's life or death. I blame the media more than the public. Covering this saga saves them from working harder on something with more depth.

Great title. Count me among those who agree.
