Twin Writermom

I have always dreamed of having a writing career. I would often write for fun when I was younger. Eventually, the hustle and bustle of life shifted my focus to other things. I am now a thirty-two year old woman with a family. For the past ten years, no matter what career choices I made, I always felt like my heart was calling me to come back to writing. Until now, I seemed to lack the patience, motivation, or discipline that writing entails. Since the birth of my twins, I have turned into a stay at home mom, who still needs to earn a living, while maintaining job flexibility.
Every time I sit down to write something, I am distracted by one of the kids crying. They never seem to sleep at the same time. If one of them is asleep, the other one is screaming. My husband comes home from work asking about dinner. Between feedings, wiping butts, running errands, doctor visits, and trying to sooth two irritable infants, I haven't had time to prepare dinner.
While I'm in the middle of changing a poopie diaper, my husband kindly reminds me that I forgot to wash him a clean work shirt. I want to tell him to wash his own shirt, but I just nod my head, and I wonder if he thinks that I've been sitting on my bum all day, eating ice cream, and watching television. While preparing to give my youngest twin a bath, I remember that I forgot to take a bath today. I hear one of the dogs outside whimpering, because I forgot to feed him.
My telephone starts to ring. I will talk for a minute before I tell friends, and relatives, that I need to get off of the phone. I haven't had time to write today, so I need to finish what I'm doing, so that I can get to my writing. It only takes me a minute to realize that they don't take what I do seriously.
