How to Keep Your Mind Healthy with Mental Exercises

Keeping our mind healthy is just as important as keeping our physical bodies healthy. Without the health of our minds we won't be able to function physically, socially and emotionally. The key to a healthy mind is to keep it active with mental exercises. There are simple things you can do to keep your mind in shape. I would suggest picking different things from the list that you can do throughout the day. Variety in itself will strengthen your mental health.

·Read a book.

·Play thinking games such as scrabble.

·Write articles for Associated Content.

·Watch the news and make a list of the different topics covered for the day.

·Observe an object and describe as many details of that object as you can.

·Put a puzzle together.

·Take a class and learn something new.

·Complete a crossword puzzle.

·Talk with friends on the phone or in person.

·Watch a movie that will get you thinking such as The Prestige.

·Keep a mental calendar instead of a daybook.

·Visualize a place you would like to be at such as the beach.

·Count backwards from one thousand.

·Look at a place, close your eyes and try to recall everything you saw.

These activities have helped make me mentally sharp. I notice that when I am not exercising my brain mentally I tend to forget things and I am not as quick in responding to my situation. I start to slow down in all areas of my life. I don't get things done and goals take a lot longer to become accomplished. In return I feel depressed, anxious and frustrated. When I do challenge my brain everyday I feel alert, happy, satisfied and smart. I have a wonderful feeling of being alive and healthy. I also have better relationships with others and success in all other aspects of my life.

Great Tips! This also may help to fend off Alzheimer's. People with active minds seem to suffer from this disease less often. So give her tips a try!
