When it's time to sell your home, consider the best way to sell it in a reasonable time frame and to get the best possible price for it.

One of the first decisions you will make is whether to hire a Realtor or try to sell the home yourself. Selling the home For Sale By Owner is referred to as FSBO in the real estate industry.

People who want to sell by owner usually do so they can pocket all of the proceeds of their house sale. FSBO can work successfully in an very active house market. The reality is though, that most people who start out selling by owner eventually list with a real estate agent, because they haven't gotten the offer they wanted.

Selling a home of the real estate market appears to be relatively easy. The fact of the matter is that it is not a simple as it appears to be. There are many factors involved in the successful sale of a house. Real estate agents take many factors into account when recommending a market value on a property. Factors to be considered are what similar homes in the area have sold for, what houses are currently on the market and what houses were listed but didn't sell successfully. Agents consider these factors, along with their knowledge of the marketplace and can come up with a pretty good estimate of what a house should sell for.

Realtors utilize many marketing methods to sell house. Not everything that these professionals do in your behalf is easily seen or described. The fact of the matter is that most homes are sold via the MLS, Multiple Listing Service. The Multiple Listing Service is a resource where all available listings are available for agents to sell. In order to get your house listed with the MLS, you need to list the house with a real estate agent. Real estate agents need to be licensed and pay fees to be part of the Multiple Listing Service. The service is only available to member agents.

Following are reasons that I believe that listing with a real estate agent is a good choice.

1. The major disadvantage that a FSBO has is that they are excluded from being in the MLS, and the network of agents and buyers that see your listing because of it.

Great tips. It seems that most who try to sell a home on their own end up listing it with a realtor anyway. They waste money on advertising and find out they should have listed it to begin with.

This is a great article, statistics show over several surveys that have been done over the years- that a person who is FSBO can not only usually make the commission money back, but plus some, if they list with an agent. Unfortunately some don't see that.
