In the world of journalism there is much talk about whether or not print media is dead. There is no question that with the rise of the internet and the continuous success and popularity of TV news, it has faded. However, it may be a little too soon to count print media out.The internet has brought a new and convenient way to get news for people. If you have a computer and an internet connection, it is right there. You have access to your local newspaper, cnn.com, The New York Times and many more prestigious newspapers. With the click of a couple buttons, you can view several different articles online through several different papers. Along with this, many do not charge to view the current newspapers.
If that weren't enough, getting your news from the internet gives you access to a whole new world of news. Obviously you have access to the articles written by the usual reporters and all of the photographs from photographers. However, with online news you have access to video, blogs, chat rooms about articles and more. With print news, what you see is what you get.
Then there is the number two source people get their news from, the television. While the internet and newspapers can go more in-depth with their stories, the television allows you to get a brief synopsis of what is happening around the world. There are several stories in a quick manner allowing you to become educated without taking up too much of your time.
Another benefit to getting your news from the television is that it is audio and visual. It allows you to comprehend the news much better and concentrate easier on the stories with video clips, sound, pictures and graphs. There are a number of ways news stations can display a story, which helps keep you tuned in.
Close to 40% of people get their news from the internet and around 30% from the television. That leaves the radio, magazines and newspaper. Luckily for newspapers, it is in third with a bleak 13% of people getting their news from newspapers. So is print media dead?
