The Journey Begins

It was August 9, 2005 that Lee left his home in Montana for a trek across the United States to Boston, Massachusetts. As of March 21, 2007, a year and a half later, Lee is nearing the southern part of Wisconsin, with many months yet to go before reaching his destination. Why is he going to Boston? To see his old friends and his childhood sweetheart, whom he fell in love with late in life.

Who IS This Man?

Lee is known only as "Lee the Horselogger". He has always lived a simple life from the time he was a young child, living in upstate New York. Lee remembers his childhood days there as a simple way of life, with numerous outdoor activities such as cutting firewood, planting trees, logging and tending to the horses.

After he graduated from high school, Lee went on to college but did not find it to be a good fit for him. As he puts it, he left college "degreeless but educated." He chose, instead, to learn through life itself, settling down in Montana which he terms a "blessing." Life was rugged but much to his liking, with no electricity and no running water.

Not one to be kept down, even cancer has been unable to stop him from living life to the fullest. Lee is treating it with holistic medicine and continues to move forward with his journey.

Traveling the Highways

From the picture, you can see the wagon Lee is traveling in. It is a one-of-a-kind wagon made by and for a one-of-a-kind man! As the horses power this carriage, safety is of utmost concern which is why he has a law enforcement escort to alert fast moving traffic to be cautious. Lee calls it a "barn on wheels," packed with things needed for the horses and himself.

Aside from the two Suffolk Punch draft horses (some of the finest "work horses" available), Lee is traveling with his two Great Pyrenees dogs, Katie and Kermit. Lee lives out of the wagon, depending on the kindness of strangers, which he describes as "abundant."
