The Lake Erie Crushers: Great Summer Fun in Avon, Ohio

2
Let me start by saying that when I attended my first Lake Erie Crushers game, I had no idea how much fun and excitement would be included. The Lake Erie Crushers play in the Frontier League. Sure, I've been to Major League games plenty of times, but as of late baseball in North Eastern Ohio isn't particularly exciting. So I decided to take my son to a Lake Erie Crushers game. As it turns out, the independent Frontier League was much more exciting than the local MLB team.

The Lake Erie Crushers just formed as a team in 2009, and as so this is their inaugural season in the Frontier League, so I had no real knowledge of they team or the league. However, the admission price alone was enough to give the Lake Erie Crushers a try, and take my family to a game. For less than I would have paid to go see a movie with my family, we were able to enjoy a few hours outdoors watching a great baseball game.

The Lake Erie Crushers call All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, OH their home. The ballpark is brand new and seats 5,000+ fans. The park is absolutely beautiful, all seats are very comfortable, and the atmosphere is great for family fun. The park is also similar to a MLB park in dimension, with straight away center field being 400 FT, and right and left field at 325 FT. Every Friday night is Fireworks Friday at All Pro Freight Stadium, which happens to be my sons favorite night. Again, as I knew nothing about the Lake Erie Crushers, or the Frontier League they play in, I expected very little from the fireworks display following the first Friday night game we attended. However, the display was professionally done and was amazingly good. The fireworks lasted roughly ten minutes and rivaled any fireworks show I've seen at a MLB game.
