Writing down your goals is the first step toward achieving them. When you write them down, you are forced to form a mental picture of them in your mind, then express that thought through your words. Doing this is what I refer to as a "mini-visualization" or "warm-up" exercise to get the creative juices flowing.

Visualization simply means creating a mental picture of something. Visualization is important because it brings clarity to the future. When you visualize yourself achieving your goal, it makes your brain believe that attaining that goal is possible. When you consistently visualize on any given goal, it will enable you to manifest it more rapidly than if you don't focus on it at all. The amount of focus you give the goal, the closer you will bring it to you. Make sense?

Believe it or not, only about 5 percent of the population actually takes the time to write down their goals. Maybe that explains why so few people are actually living the life they would like to be living. According to this statistic, if you take time to write down your goals, you will be 95 percent ahead of everyone else in the game. Wouldn't you agree those are pretty good odds?

Writing down your goals creates the roadmap to your success. The very act of writing them down sets the process in motion. It's also extremely important to review your goals frequently. Remember, the more focused you are on your goals; the more likely you are to accomplish them.

In order to write effective goals, there is a formula that I call "The four golden rules of goal setting." If you follow these rules you will experience a higher level of success, and create goals that align with your purpose.
