Sex is more popular today than it ever has been. Sex is seen on television, in magazines, on the radio and in advertisements. Sex has come to occupy the minds of many especially teenagers. Teenage sex has increased in the last ten years. Teens are having sex at an earlier age and more often. Teenagers are also involved in more experimentation such sex with the same gender and the use of sexual inducing drugs. It has become the parent's responsibility to talk to their children about sex. Sex can be a complicated and difficult topic to discuss but it is essential for the life of a teenager. The following are some tips on how a parent can talk to their teenager about sex.

Discuss the purpose of sex. Today many teenagers look at sex as something that is done casually. I talk to one teenager who said, "Sex is like eating and drink water you need it everyday." I think the meaning of sex has been altered. Our media is partly at fault for this attitude that our society carries. A parent needs to educate their teenager at an early age about the purpose of sex. That sexual intimacy is a special moment shared between two people who are in a long-term committed relationship.

Have a neutral attitude about sex. A negative attitude about sex will only turn your child off and make them curious about knowing what sex is really all about. Especially if their friends are saying one thing and their parent is saying something else. You want to have positive communication with your teenager when it comes to talking about sex. Your telling your teenager in a positive manner what your values and attitudes are about sex. This will encourage your teenager to come talk to you if they ever have questions about sex.

Give an accurate description of sex. Talk to your teenager honestly about what sexual intimacy entails. This will help curve their curiosity to experiment with sex if they know about the unknown.
