A Pre-Training Camp Preview of the NFC North

3
The NFC North was won last year by the Minnesota Vikings and they are the favorites by many to win it this year, with or without the assistance of Brett Favre. However, there are three teams in the division who have something to say about that

Minnesota Vikings:

Why they will win the division: First they have the best running back in the league in Adrian Peterson. He is a great talent with a rare blend of size, power, speed, vision, and the will to win. They also have a wide receiving corps that has a ton of potential. Bernard Berrian has proven that he is a dangerous deep threat both in Minnesota as well as his days in Chicago. Sidney Rice is an ever improving young receiver who has a nice combination of size and speed, and the Viking's first round pick in April's draft Percy Harvin will contribute right away in special designed packages designed to get him the ball in space, which will allow him to use his natural run after the catch ability. He will make big plays for the Viking's offense. The offensive line is very good in both run blocking and pass blocking. The defense is very stout against the run with the Pat and Kevin Williams in the middle. Jared Allen offers a relentless rush off the edge. The line backing corps is ever improving as well is the secondary. Also it is looking like Brett Favre will be joining the Vikings which will immediately upgrade their only position with serious question marks.

Question marks that may cost the Vikings: The quarterback position. If Brett does join the Vikings, does he have enough left to lead the Vikings to the playoffs? Will he be healthy or will he look like the Favre that was very ineffective for the Jets in the last month of the season. If Favre doesn't join the Vikings, will Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels offer consistent play? Can Adrian Peterson stay healthy for another entire season or was last year's healthy campaign a fluke? Will the pass defense fail the Vikings against big-time passing attacks or will they continue to improve? Does Brad Childress have full control of team after the Favre situation is settled?
