Easter baskets are so much fun to make. You really miss out if you go and buy those all ready made baskets for your kids. Plus making your own basket isn't expensive, if you use your imagination. The first thing you need to think about is the age of your child. You want to buy things that are age appropriate and that the child will like. Then you start with the basket itself.
You can stick with the normal baskets made out of weaved wicker materials or the plastic baskets. Or you can get original and buy duffel bags, reusable plastic boxes and baskets (minus the Easter logo) Then the child can use it all year.
After you decide on the basket and type of basket you have the fun of filling it. You probably will want to start out with the candy. Be sure to shop early, before all the good stuff is bought. Stick with some of the traditional favorites, The Peeps, the small Easter eggs, The malted balls and eggs, jellybeans, the special colored M & M's and other favorites for each child.
Now what is left? You are left with deciding what kinds of fun stuff you want to use to finish filling the basket.
Of course, you want to buy the colored grass and those plastic eggs that open. The grass just makes the baskets look even more colorful. The eggs can hold anything and everything. Sure they are small. But you know what they say about good things and small packages. What can you put in those eggs? Here are some ideas:
Money (change and bills, will be appreciated).
Jewelry
More candy
Stickers
Marbles
Hair accessories (take them off the cards, of course)
Coupons to the child's favorite restaurants, pizza places
