First off, don't over brush your hair as it will damage the strands, and don't bother your hair too much with the perms, colors, etc. There are a couple of brushes I am aware of that are for designed for different types of hair. Finding the right one which suits you may make a difference to the quality of the hair you have.
First, we have the paddle brush. The paddle brush looks like a paddle - flat and wide. They are specifically used to brush long hair, and creating straight smooth styles. However, if your hair is in layers, you may like to consider another option as the paddle brush isn't really good for layered hair because it doesn't add volume.
Sculpting brushes are great for adding volume for short hair. They are great for short, textured styles like the short cuts, and round layers.
Last but not least is my favorite brush of all - the Thermal Round Brushes. Thermal Round Brushes are found in all sizes ranging from small to big rolls. The different sizes are for different styles of hair. When used with a blow dryer, you can curl your hair a bit with the smaller Thermal Round Brushes. The bigger brushes smooth out locks, and add body and volume. They create stunning styles.
Also, when purchasing brushes with a ball tip, be sure to purchase ones that have been molded as part of the bristle, and not glued or somehow attached on. Molded ball tips are great for the hair, and are sure not to damage or pull hair.
Good brushes are an investment on your hair. If you pay more attention to the professionals at the salon and the brushes they use, you will notice that they have lots of variety in the brushes they own - each for a different hair style. Brushes are an important part in keeping the quality and image of our hair as good as possible.
