The boom in nightlife in Downtown Canton is more like a fireworks display this year as several new, romantic and adventurous restaurants have been added to the bill of fare. As varied as each explosion, are the choices.

A new choice for formal fine dining in Canton is Fedeli Italian American Restaurant and Martini & Wine Bar off Court Avenue Northwest. The atmosphere is relaxed but there is definite air of sophistication about it.

Co-owner Joe Hawkins travels to Italy on business and brings home a dinner menu that is both impressive and ambitious. Pasta or risotto are the underpinnings of many dishes topped with tempting sauces, seafood, meat, poultry and wild mushrooms. Fedeli’s Martini Menu allows for adventurous and established tastes as well. It's traditional Italian dining with a modern flair.

If traditional is not your thing, perhaps your date will love the Luna Grille Restaurant on 4th St. in Canton. It is a bit hard to find (one block south of the Palace Theatre) but it is worth the search. Chef and owner Ronni Marcinkowey has created a fun and artistic atmosphere that includes amazing and diverse murals by renowned artist Tommy Morgan and interior decorating that is as eclectic as the menu. The generous Tuscan style cuisine is prepared by a chef schooled at the Cordon Bleu and features Spaghetti Aglio E’ Olio that is delecate and flavourful at once. For lunch the perfect choice is the Bella Luna sandwich that combines Gorgonzola cheese, roasted peppers and a grilled Portobello mushroom cap. It is the perfect choice for vegetarians and carnivores alike. After 9:00 pm music fills the air from The Studio Room in the far end of the restaurant every Saturday night. Styles vary so call ahead or visit to hear anything from Jazz to Acoustic Folk.

Crazy people visit the Luna Grille in Canton. And that's the way they like it!
