The Chattanooga River Walk
Also known as the Tennessee Riverpark, the Chattanooga River Walk offers 13 miles of trails and 150 acres of Riverpark. The River Walk runs along the Tennessee River from downtown all the way to the Chickamauga Dam. The paved trail is great for runners of every fitness level, and is ideal for runners with a stroller. You can begin from anywhere in the downtown area or from any one of the park entrances.
Directions: From I-24/Hwy 27: Take the 4th Street Exit to Riverside Drive/Amnicola Highway. There are multiple entrances to the park along Riverside Drive and Amnicola Highway.
Lookout Mountain Trails
Not only does this area have many different trails for runners and bikers, it also offer spectacular views. Choose from gradual gravel roads to steep technical hiking trails. The Guild-Hardy Trail is an easier gravel road run while the "Big Daddy" is extremely challenging. The Guild-Hardy Trail winds through forested mountain slopes dotted with historical ruins, Ruby Falls and the Cravens House.The Big Daddy Trail, known for its steep technical trails, is a classic run that will take runners up and down the side of Lookout Mountain.
Directions: Take Broad St. toward Lookout Mountain. Follow Broad St. until it turns into Cummings Hwy. Continue on Cummings Hwy. until left turn onto Scenic Hwy. Follow Scenic Hwy. for approx. 2.5 miles and turn right onto Shingle Rd. Continue on Shingle Rd. for .5 mile and turn right to park at the Craven's House.
Reflection Riding
The park is a 300-acre arboretum with twelve miles of trails and paths for runners and walkers. With Lookout Mountain on one side, and Lookout Creek on the other, you will be awed by the views at Reflection Riding. After your run, check out the Chattanooga Nature center, which is at the entrance to Reflection Riding.
