Butler which was a five seed in their region was a heavy underdog to Florida in this game but they jumped out early to a 17 to 8 lead. They even lead 29 to 23 with four minutes and forty eight seconds left in the first half. Unfortunately for Butler though they failed to score the rest of the half as Florida started to take control with a twelve point run to finish the half and head into the locker room with a six point lead. Butler was pesky though and didn't go away easily. With just under fifteen minutes they held a four point lead, and were tied with Florida with 3:33 left in the game. Florida outscored them though 12-4 the remained of the game for the 65-57 victory and a trip to the elite eight. Florida shot 50% from the field, but the big difference was that they got to the foul line fifteen more times than Butler and outscored them by thirteen from the charity stripe.
