As I have gotten older I've learned to appreciate drama movies. I like good acting and a good story as much as the next movie buff. At heart I'm still a guy though. I still love the action movies. I still love to see the heroes beat the bad guys. Every good hero needs a good set of wheels. So I thought I'd do a piece on my favorite vehicles in film and TV. When I say vehicle I mean vehicles that are on wheels. I know technically vehicles are anything that can transport someone to another place but if I included all kinds of vehicles, especially ships, then the list would be too long. So these are just my favorite vehicles on wheels.

Batmobile - This is a no-brainer, the Batmobile is possible the coolest, most popular, most recognizable vehicle in movies. It doesn't even matter what version of the Batmobile, it can be the old Batmobile from the '66 television show, the cool sleek Batmobile of the 90's or the new tank Batmobile. The Batmobile has so many different gadgets and abilities that it's almost like the car is another character in the story.

De Loreon - No best vehicle list is complete without the De Loreon from the Back to the Future movies. I always loved the De Loreon because the doors opened upward; it was like the De Loreon had wings and it made flying to the future seem plausible. Plus the De Loreon would get to such a high speed that it would leave flames on the ground behind it!

General Lee - Yes, I was born in Alabama so the Dukes of Hazard weren't just a television show, they were a way of life. The General Lee represents everything that's great about the south. We don't care if we're old and beat up because we know it's just because we're tough like that. The General Lee also created a lot of fun for me because the Duke brothers encouraged people to get in their car by jumping through the window. That caused a lot of drunk and dumb rednecks to fall on their face trying to get into their car. Good times.

Takeaways
  • The General Lee caused people to fall on their face.
  • Panthro is the best mechanic ever.
  • KITT is cooler than David Hasselhoff.

If I recall correctly there weren't many DeLoreon's made either so it's a pretty rare car I believe.

My great-aunt owned a DeLoreon when I was a child and it was so cool. Though she never drove it. It sat in a garage. She did let us "kids" sit in it though. When she passed away her kids sold it, wonder how much that thing sold for? It really was a SPACE AGE type car with the doors mechanically opening up! Great article. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
