The Mustang: Is It All It's Cracked Up to Be?

A Review of My Newest Addition

I just bought my first sports car. My past vehicle experiences have been an '88 VW Cabriolet, '97 Jeep TJ and most recently, a '00 Chevy Blazer.

I wanted to invest in a nice convertible. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be very many convertibles on the market within a reasonable price range. However, the 2003 Ford Mustang comes fully loaded with all power options, including a power convertible top. I purchased the V6
automatic. The GT-V8 is more expensive to purchase by several thousand dollars, consumes more gas, has a higher theft rate and is very pricey on insurance.

My Blazer was also a 190hp-V6 automatic. I find that the Mustang's 190hp-V6 is somewhat lacking in oomph and power. Now that I've owned a Mustang and a Chevy, there is no comparison. The Chevy engine is where it's at. Even in a heavy Blazer, 1,350 pounds heavier than the Mustang, the Blazer seemed to have much more power. On the other hand, I'm saving a lot more on gas. Choose power over economy? Guess that would depend on your priorities.

I am a bit surprised at the beautiful interior. A gorgeous white leather with the trademark mustang horse embroidered on the seat. These seats are very comfortable. I feel like I'm driving a luxury car. The power seats move in four directions instead of the usual two. In terms of functionality, I was able to program the 6-CD stereo and use all its functions without referring to the manual. All buttons are easy to use; gauges easy to read.

The convertible top is an added benefit. The top is all power and the mechanism is efficient and simple to use. A couple of drawbacks are the trunk, where the space is quite small, and the ultra-tiny back seat. I find the room in the front on the smaller side as well. If you're a tall person, this car might be a challenge to find comfortable.

It's a hot looking car (yellow with white leather interior) and I feel very comfortable in it. The Mustang has a wonderfully smooth ride. The car handles very well compared to other cars I've owned. The Mustang feels sporty, yet not too big or overwhelming. Keyless entry is a great benefit, as well.
