Women's Liberation: What Ever Happened To, Doing it Better Than a Man?
I thought the point of women's liberation, was not just to be equal to a man, but to do what a man does, only do it better. Somewhere along the line, something seems to have gone awry. All I see, is women doing what men do, but not any better. Sometimes, maybe even worse, just to prove a point. I me
an allot of women seem to be going way overboard with things that men only use to do. I'm afraid we have gone too far, in the wrong direction.
I was lucky enough to be in high school in the late sixties, when women's lib was just blossoming. I have to be honest, I wasn't the type to really care about it, and thought it was kind of rebellious at the time. After all, I was really happy with my life, and honestly, I was the last chance for a boy for my parents, and grew up being a tom-boy anyway. Therefor, I was really doing everything I wanted anyway. I remember seeing allot of protest rallies, and burning of bras on TV. Quite frankly, I thought they were on drugs or something. Please remember, I was just a teen at the time, and couldn't possibly have understood the real seriousness of what they were trying to do. One thing I do remember, is coming away with the idea that women wanted to be able to do anything a man did, but try to do it better. Maybe, I was wrong. However, that's what I have believed all these many years. Unfortunately, women have not lived up to my impression of how it was supposed to be.
Case In point. Several years ago women started this thing about going to strip clubs to see men, and going absolutely crazy. So, how are we supposed to be proud of that? Weren't we the ones, many years ago, that called men pigs and perverted for doing that? So here we are, being just like men, but NOT doing it better. No, the way we would have done it better, is if we had the right, and opportunity to go to strip clubs, but don't. That's doing it better. After all, how many women over the decades have complained that men treat us like a piece of meat? Doing exactly what men do, exactly as they do it, does not make us better, just equal.
