Is your teen stressed? The teens of this generation have a lot more to deal with than previous generations. Today there is the pressure to be thin, the pressure to have the hottest car, the need to own all of the trendy clothes and electronics, and the general pressure to just fit in. And we have to ask - is your teen stressed? Chances are the answer is yes they are suffering from some form of stress. Know what signs to look for with teen stress. Any of these may be change in eating habits, sleeping habits, a drop in grades, isolation, moodiness, or risky behavior.

Is your teen stressed because of academic issues? There are some signs to look for with teen stress. Have your teen's grades dropped? If so you need to find out why. Is it due to lack of focus, or failure to structure their schedule to have the necessary amount of study time? As a teenager in school, and when it comes to academics, this should be the priority. Is your teen stressed for all of the wrong reasons hence these distractions causing his academic performance to drop? Approach your child as well as the administrators and teachers at the school. You need to know what is going on before it is too late, and while it can still be fixed. It may be that your teen wants the help, but you will never know until you ask.

Is your teen stressed because she or he thinks that weight is an issue? Our young people are polarized with the media and expect to live up to illusions no one can possibly live up to. It may be that a little adjustment to his or her media habits might put things in perspective. Teach your teen healthy eating and physical fitness habits. Once you have done that teach them that they are worthy as human beings and that we are all made differently, size included. As long as they are healthy and in no danger or at risk, honor them for whom they are and teach them to do the same thing. Eating disorders are so prevalent with this young generation and it is because of who and what they look to as role models. If this situation is beyond repair then seek professional help for your teen.
