Superstar Michael Jackson passed away on June 25 (see my article "Michael Jackson King of Pop Dead at 50). It was a tragic event that topped other recent celebrity deaths, creating shock waves around the world. Immediately after his death, rumors began circulating that Michael Jackson had become a Christian shortly before his death. This rumor has not only been spread by viral emails, but has also been reported by the media.

Did Michael Jackson Become a Christian Right Before He Died?

The most widely circulated story claimed that gospel artists Andraé Crouch and his sister Sandra led Michael to accept Christ right before Michael Jackson died. While Michael Jackson seemed to reinvent his faith as often as he did his music and his appearance (see Michael Jackson's gospel music ties), I chose not to report the story without investigating it. You can read my full article at "Did Michael Jackson become a Christian right before he died?" but here is a synopsis:

Michael Jackson's Spiritual Journey

Michael Jackson grew up in the Jehovah's Witnesses. During his 2005 trial he apparently turned to Kaballah. During his life, Michael Jackson sought out several high profile spiritual advisers including Orthodox Jew Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and New Age guru Deepak Chopra (Liveprayer.com). Chopra was frequently seen on television interviews following Michael's death. Michael Jackson also followed several of his brothers into Islam. Jackson was clearly a man searching for something.

Michael Jackson and Andraé Crouch

In the article "Michael Jackson's gospel music ties," I mentioned the relationship between Michael Jackson and Andraé Crouch. To find out the truth about that last visit between Andraé Crouch, Sandra and Michael Jackson, I turned to Andraé's Facebook page. Here is some of what I found posted there: See also:
