My Biggest Secret

I was sitting here trying to think of what big secret I would share with everyone. Should I tell you about my one night stand that no one knows about? Should I tell you about how I knew someone was being cheated on but could not find the courage to tell that person because I loved them and didn't want to see them hurt? Should I tell you about how I wake up every morning and do the same things over and over to keep my life in order because since the loss of my brother I have not been in control? I could easily talk about these things. I could let my emotions take over and give you a story that would be heartfelt and full of emotion but I don't want to because most of these things seem trivial compared to what I want to share.

My biggest secret is that I might have a genetic disease. Right now I might be sitting here typing about how I might have it and in five years it will really hit me. This disease attacks your whole self. Your body and your mind. It causes dementia and loss of motor skills. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke I have a "50- 50 chance of inheriting the HD gene." As of yet they have not found a cure for this disease and the medicine they have found that is supposed to help with the symptoms carry many side affects. Current studies are being done on a regular basis to try to find a cure but so far there has been no luck with the studies.
