Vitamins and minerals enter our body through the food we eat. Many people believe that the food they eat is lacking in the proper nutrients because of over processing. It is true that today's foods are highly processed. If people think they're not getting all the vitamins they should, they can take vitamin supplements. There are two methods of taking vitamins; tablets or liquid form. Do the advantages of liquid vitamins far outweigh its disadvantages - if there are any?

Better or easier absorption for older adults and children is one advantage of liquid vitamins. Liquid vitamins may taste worse than chewable tablet forms with flavoring, but they are easier to absorb. Liquid vitamins for children and even adults now have flavoring to make them easier to take. There have been cases in which children have problems with choking, breathing and swallowing simply because of their inability to absorb medication or vitamins in the tablet form. The same problem may also happen to older adults.

Liquid vitamins are more effective because they can be assimilated immediately into the blood stream. The liquid form can also be three to five times more concentrated than vitamin pills. This more concentrated form can lead to higher therapeutic benefits and a healthier outcome.

Do liquid vitamins contain antioxidants as well? Vitamins E, C and A are examples of antioxidants and they are commonly found in vitamin supplements but what about liquid vitamins? Antioxidants are our main defense against effects of damaging oxidation reactions. Without them, we are basically weaker and less healthy. The most important of all antioxidants - Vitamins A, C and E - are not internally produced by the body so they must be part of our diet. Are we eating the correct foods for these essential vitamins? Maybe we are and maybe we're not. An insurance policy, vitamins supplements, would be a wise course of action. Yes, the three critical antioxidant vitamins are in liquid vitamins.

Great article, Dave. I am a firm proponent of vitamins. You presented this well and in your usual folksy manner, of which I am so fond.
