The scientific name for pot is cannabis. But some of the better known street names that most of the teenagers tend to use are marijuana, reefer, grass, or weed. In the book called "The Private Life of the American Teenager" there is a survey that states 160,000 U.S. teenagers are currently throwing their lives away by smoking pot. Most of these teenagers are between the ages 13 and 18. Every year the age seems to go lower and lower on when these children begin smoking pot.

Many of them use it openly and on a regular basis. If you ask them why the smoke it they will usually say because everyone else is. However there still are quite a few teenagers who do not choose to smoke pot. What makes them different from the other teenagers. According to studies done by scientist who surveyed several large groups of teenagers over a two year period, those who do not use pot were warned about it before they were ever offered it. Sometimes it can be very effective to let your teenager know some of the consequences they may face by using this drug.

For example they could have run-ins with the law, and possible health risks, just to enjoy a few minute height. Many teenagers also stated that they like the few minute high that they get. And this is what they tell others when they are trying to get them to use pot. You should explain to your teenager that using pot can interfere with brain development and cause them to experience negative feelings. Ask them if they really think that a few minutes of pleasure is really worth the risk.

Others may make it seem like a lot of fun, but after the few minute high is over you begin to experience the pain. The most common adverse reaction to marijuana is a state of anxiety, sometimes accompanied by paranoid thought. It can range from general suspicion to a fear of losing total control of a situation. There are many who end up reaching a point where they need professional help.

Takeaways
  • Take the time and talk to your child when they are young.
  • Years later when they are ready to begin their adult life they may find that they have lung cancer.

The person who wrote this article is the biggest misinformed douche bag alive. I'm more deserving of a job as a journalist than you are if you cant even spend 2 seconds Google-ing how long the high will last or whether or not marijuana causes cancer. This isn't a news article, this isn't helpful to parents, this is just your biased misinformed opinion and you should be stopped before these myths get spread too far. Where are the sources on your information? Your biased empty head doesn't count.

I didnt even read the whole thing, i read the first line and knew this is one of those blogs that puts weed down in every way possible and makes up as much bullshit possible to get people to beilive this nonsense! First of all, you are a total ignorant JACKASS for saying kids who smoke pot are throwing there lives away, what about pot makes kids throw there lives away? nothing! its the kids who are throwing there lives away ALONG with using pot, theres not a connection at all, marijuana enhances the ability to concentrate and this is why the "it affects school" thing is bullshit, and also we can tell you are very ignorant when you say "few minute high" the high last anywhere from 2 to 3 hours, me correcting that proves im not trying to be all on the good side of pot. god you make me so mad you fucking dick, oh my god, i have been being warned about smoking pot since i was 10, im 16 and i smoke about twice a day out of a water bong that filters out the very few if any harmful substanc

This article is full of lies and stupidity. I'm sorry, but this should be taken down, the entire article is almost entirely a bold faced lie. None of it is supported by any factual evidence and is downright lies. Paranoia after the high goes away? What the hell is this person talking about? A few minutes? Weed highs last hours and have no "after effects" that this person seems to refer to. Not only that, but there is practically no evidence what so ever linking cannabis to cancer. This article is entirely misinformation and holds no factual basis what so ever.

Its much longer than a few minute high...most if not everything you've stated is completely biased or lacks any factual evidence
