Whether your favorite is Coca Cola, Pepsi or Sprite, there is no doubt that soda is something that many of us love to drink, from time to time. However, if soda is a beverage that you tend to consume on a daily basis, chances are that you might want to reconsider doing so. There are a variety of different negative effects that soda can have on your body, all of which can easily be prevented by eliminating soda from your diet or cutting back on the amount that you drink. Read on to learn about some of the reasons that you may to think twice about consuming that delicious drink.

Soda is Loaded With Calories

Although you may not even realize it, soda can end up putting pounds on you quicker than anything else. The main reason is because each can or bottle of soda that you drink contains tons of calories. On average, soda contains about 130 - 150 calories per can. This does not even count the amount of calories that you are eating during each meal. Soda calories, which are often referred to as "empty calories", can add up very quickly. If you are an avid soda drinker, you should consider giving it up for a few weeks to see just how much it really is making you gain weight.

Chances are that you have probably heard that soda does not quench your thirst. Well, soda has been known to leave you feeling thirsty. The main reason is because it contains a lot of sugar. If you end up drinking more than one soda, you will be taking in even more negative calories that will add up.

Although many people are skeptical about it, soda has reportedly been the main cause of diabetes among women. Of course, while there are studies that have been done to back this up, most people still do not believe that enough of them have been done. Either way, it is important to know that soda does contain a whole lot of sugar. Consuming too much sugar is definitely not good for your body. Aside from diabetes, excessive amounts of sugar is one of the main reasons that people gain weight.
