Despite a struggling economy and miles and miles of empty neighborhoods, New Orleans French Quarter and Downtown areas are open for business. One of New Orleans' primary sources of income before hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast and New Orleans was revenue generated through tourism. One way this was accomplished was through large and small conventions held at one of the largest convention centers in America, the Earnest N. Morial Convention Center. So if you have any say in where your company's summer convention is held this year, why not consider New Orleans. While convention business has picked up to nearly the same it was prior to the hurricane coming and subsequently causing the convention center to be overrun with desperate people, it still needs to have a constant influx of new conventions on its schedule in order to help defray the overwhelming costs to the city caused by the hurricane's devastation.
