Public School or Private School? Deciding Where to Send Your Children

If you have small children like I do, this may be a question that you are already thinking about. It is a very difficult decision to make and one that could very well determine your childrens life. In my opinion, both have their pro's and con's. My child is only 6 months old and already I am looking at schools in the area. Mainly due to, this determines where I will buy a house, where my husband will work. All kinds of things play into the decision making process of picking a future school for your children.

First lets take a look at pulic schools. This is one that I myself can give first hand knowledge about. I was in the public school system from the very start. I went kindergarden thru 12th grade. Some things that I can say is just much you really learn that not everyone is your life is going to look and act just like you do. However, the public schools I went to are nothing to compare in size to the ones in this current area I am in now. I believe if memory serves me correct that I graduated with a class of 35 people. My sisters graduated with a class of around 100+ people and it was even considered a "normal" size school. Even though I feel that the education is just as good at a public school, for some reason the word safety is always in the back of my head. Seems that you can't turn the t.v. on anymore with out something of a school shooting or a school lockdown due to drugs or violence. Don't get me wrong I am not saying that all public schools are unsafe. It just happens in my area that is something that I have noticed. Most of them have thousands of students and I almost feel that my child will just blend in and just be another "student". However, why should one have to pay for education in the United States? Another great benefit of public schools it is free.
