Detroit Pistons 50-1 2009-2010 NBA Finals Champions; Bet Them Now!
On Sportsbook.com, the Detroit Pistons are currently a 50-1 underdog to win the 2009-2010 NBA Championship. The Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites, both sitting at 2-1. Why the Pistons are still a 50-1 underdog after signing Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva is a mystery even with their current roster not being quite complete and without a head coach in place. The Pistons have made two huge moves that greatly improved their team, and their not done yet.
The immediate signings of Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva show that General Manager Joe Dumars is determined to do whatever he can to return the Pistons to greatness and to save his job in Detroit. The Pistons current starting five would most likely be Rodney Stuckey, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Jason Maxiell, and Kwame Brown. Kwame Brown will not be the starting center come October, and there is a possibility that Maxiell won't start at power forward also. With the off-season acquisitions of Villanueva and Gordon, the Pistons now have Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince available as significant trade bait for a game changing center such as Carlos Boozer or Chris Bosh. Not if, but when a trade goes down to secure an all-star quality big man, expect that 50-1 to turn into a 20-1 or 15-1.
I see Carlos Boozer in Detroit and Sean Avery as the Pistons new head coach. The Pistons may not have a one year turn around similar to the Celtics when they got Garnett and Allen, but expect a much better team in Detroit that is hungry for a championship. At 50-1, the Pistons are the best value in years. Even if you are not a fan of the Pistons winning an NBA Championship due to the strength of the West and the Lakers, they are a great bet at 17-1 to win the Eastern Conference.
$10 to win $500 if the Pistons win the NBA Championship
$20 to win $340 if the Pistons win the Eastern Conference
