A Little Good News Today

More: Good News Joblessness Byron Bay Bad News
We are bombarded on every side by bad news. The economy is in decline. Joblessness is at an all time high. Crime is rampant. There have been a number of celebrity deaths to report on just in the past week. Most major
networks and even websites tend to clutch on to the horror stories of the day. Even bad news sometimes tends to get exaggerated and distorted. While it is important to stay informed, sometimes you just need a refuge from all the misery in the world.

While we cannot be the proverbial ostrich and bury our heads in the sand, my mind keeps going back to Anne Murray's song, "We Sure Could Use a Little Good News Today." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqUUQElQ8kM

So, while I am no roving reporter I am endeavoring with my menial reporting skills, to bring you...a little good news today.

HappyNews.com

While on my quest to find the encouraging note of news, I happened upon a website you might like to check out yourself while in search of a ray of light in your day. Fox News reported on this site, HappyNews.com. Byron Reese, creator of HappyNews.com, is the chief executive of Texas-based PageWise Inc. They publish several how-to and advice websites. The "good news" categories on HappyNews.com include international, national, business, health, science & technology, arts & entertainment, sports, heroes, opinions and editorials, and environment. They have some great stories here, so check them out!

Trek to Bay Cliff

One of the stories I happened upon while in search of some good news brought a huge lump to my throat while I found my eyes welling up as I read on. It is the story of Gene Fletcher. Gene Fletcher is a 14-year old boy who lives in Isabella, Michigan. But Gene Fletcher is far from just a normal 14-year-old boy. He has cerebral palsy and scoliosis and is confined to a wheelchair. In June this year, Gene completed a 100-mile wheelchair journey from Rapid River to Bay Cliff. Gene's efforts raised more than $20,000 for the Bay Cliff Health Camp. The Bay Cliff Health Camp is a non-profit therapy center for children and adults with physical disabilities.
